The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
The Msgr. Kern council was founded in 1985. It is named for Msgr. Clement H. Kern, a Detroit priest, known as the "labor priest" because of his aid to blue-collar workers. For decades, he was a familiar figure in the Corktown area of Detroit, where many Irish immigrants had settled, followed by poor Mexicans, Southern blacks, Puerto Ricans, and Maltese immigrants. He spent virtually his entire career at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He died at the age of 76 after surgery following an automobile accident in Flint, Michigan. Click Here for article about Msgr. Kern. The Kern Council is located within St. Thomas a'Becket (STAB) Catholic Church in Canton Michigan. The Grand Knight for 2011 - 2012 is Ed Harkins. You can contact the Knights by phone at (734) 981-1333, or by email at gk8284@mikofc.org
The council meets every third Wednesday of the month at St. Thomas a'Becket (STAB) starting at 7:30 in the evening.
